Portal Frames

Historically the weight of the conservatory roof has limited the size of the installations we have been able to provide. In the past, a conservatory of more than 35 square meters would have been unlikely to be able to support the weight of the roof required. However, the introduction of portal frames for large conservatories has opened up the opportunity to build much larger and more impressive structures. This enables us to create more inspiring and beautiful spaces that can be used for swimming pools, games rooms, entertaining or commercial extensions in almost any size.

What is a Portal Frame?

A portal frame provides an incredibly supportive foundation for any large conservatory or building. It is essentially a structured frame made from extremely sturdy aluminium which, provides a powerful underlying support for the roof of the installation.

When Is a Portal Frame Required?

It is our practice to install portal frames in all conservatories over 35 sq meters. This not only provides complete confidence in the structure but, is also becoming more important as the number of installations governed by stringent building regulations increases.

What Difference Will It Make To My Conservatory?

A portal frame will improve the strength and longevity of your structure. It takes away the stress and strain from the window frames and supporting buildings to provide a much stronger and more reliable foundation.
